I shared this quote and these words earlier in the week on Instagram and just felt like they needed repeated and a permanent place here on the blog as well.

“Just as a little thread of gold, running through a fabric, brightens the whole garment, so women’s work at home, while only the doing of little things, is just like the golden gleam of sunlight that runs through and brightens the whole fabric of civilization.” — Laura Ingalls Wilder

The work we do at home matters. The tidying, the couch cuddles, the cooking, the reading aloud, the folding, the laughing…all of these things speak love to our family and into our home. The world doesn’t place much value in homemaking. They don’t see the impact home makes in our lives. But homemaking isn’t just house keeping, it goes deeper than that. Sure that makes up a part of it, but homemaking is creating a nurturing environment and place of comfort and safety, a place your family looks forward to coming back to. The nurture and love we pour into our homes and families has eternal value, dear ones! So today go about your tasks with joy, linger just a moment longer at the breakfast table, savor the giggles and know that the thread woven in today will brighten the whole garment. I pray this encourages you this week as you go about keeping you home and caring for your family!

More of what I’ve been up to

Reading – This week I’ve been reading The Gospel According to Paul by John MacArthur, Good Tidings of Great Joy by Spurgeon and I’ve been bouncing around in different books of the Bible, but keep settling in Proverbs and Psalms.

Watching – This week I’ve been sneaking in a few Hallmark movies here or there. I really enjoyed the interview Alisa Childers had with Allie Beth Stuckey on her podcast. They spoke about the lies the world tells women. I highly recommend it.

Listening – I listened to a few sermons on the G3 app. I also re listened to one of my favorite sermons from Voddie Baucham called Who Do You Think You Are. It centers mainly on Romans. I also caught up on a few fun vlogs I like to watch on You Tube, Farmhouse on Boone and Natalie Bennet.

Crafting – The boys and I dried oranges this week, they also colored a few Thanksgiving pictures and they very proudly hung them on the refrigerator! This week I think we are going to work on making some salt dough ornaments!

Praying – I’ve been praying for the Spirit to keep me focused. Focused on God’s Word, focused on His truth and His promises.

Memorizing – Still working on Psalm 100 and helping the boys, they are so close to memorizing the 10 commandments! They seem to always forget “Do not commit adultery”

Cooking – Shepherds Pie and Pot Pie and all the comfort food + thinking about the big Thanksgiving Day meal. This past week I also made Cranberry Orange Bread. I just made my grocery list for the week. Lots more comfort food coming this week, haha. What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year? Are you traveling or just keeping it small at home? We will be at home, but I’m sure we will visit my parents and in-laws at some point during the day.

Praising – Praising God for His provision. Our heater broke on Friday and we had someone come out and look at it. After several hours and several hundreds of dollars later they said it was fixed. Low and behold Friday night before bed it stopped working again. We are so thankful though, despite it getting pretty cold in the evenings our indoor temperature has still be hovering around 67-68. Praise God! A friend from church is going to stop by this afternoon to take a look at it and we are hoping they will be able to fix it.

Cleaning — My plan for this coming week is to do a major freezer and fridgerator deep clean…our appliances are in desperate need of some tidying and washing! On Saturday you may have seen on Instagram that I was cleaning and purging our kitchen cupboards. There is always that point in the middle where you think, “what have I done!!?” Haha, it can be such a disaster! I’m definitely glad that is done!

So glad you stopped by today! Have a beautiful week, friends!

Love and blessings,
