What’s sweeter than crawling into a cozy bed at night? If you’re a lover of sleep like me, than you’ll agree not much is sweeter than that. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite tips to keep your bed linens and mattress fresh and clean.

Linen Spray

2 oz bottle

1 oz distilled water | 1 oz vinegar | 15 drops of lavender or any combination of oils that you prefer.

Spray on linens before hopping into bed at night. The lavender essential oil is calming and is wonderful way to relax right before bed.

Mattress Cleaner

I like to mix baking soda with some lavender essential oil and sprinkle on top of our mattresses. Let the baking soda set there for a bit and vacuum it up. It’s the perfect way to freshen up your mattress.

I like to do this every couple of months to keep my mattress fresh and clean.

Washing Linens

I love washing my linens with my Norwex powder laundry detergent. I love that its fragrance free and safe for the whole family. Several years ago I stopped using fabric softener and dryer sheets. I made a simple switch to wool dryer balls and essential oils so I’m still able to enjoy sweet smelling laundry. Another trick I learned several years ago from a sweet mennonite woman was how to keep my whites whiter by hanging them outside in the sunshine. The sun naturally whitens everything + I think we can all agree theres something pretty special about clean laundry fresh off the line. Who doesn’t want to sleep on sheets that smell like summer? You can also try laying the linens on a white bed sheet if you don’t have a line. I’ve also have done this with old baby clothes to help get those stubborn spit up stains out, worked like a charm.

Homemade Oxi-Clean

When it’s winter time and you can’t get those white linens outside try this homemade Oxi-Clean to keep your linens crisp and clean.

1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide | 1/2 cup baking soda | 1 cup of water – soak laundry for about 20 minutes then launder as normal

This is a great recipe as well using peroxide and washing soda.

I hope these tips are helpful, friends!

  1. I really want to dry the dryer balls, but my machine is not my own so it’s more to treck down to the laundry. I have started using Ms. Meyers instead of the other dryer sheets … but I definitely want to try the mattress cleaner. I haven’t had good results using baking soda as a cleaner because I can’t seem to get it all up, without leaving some residue behind, but it’s natural and I know that’s best.
