Wainscoting on a Budget – Week Three One Room Challenge

The other day on Instagram I took a little stroll down memory lane in my stories. 13 months ago we moved from our first home together as a family. As excited as I was for this new adventure and for a new home, one that I could see us growing old in and raising our boys in. There were things about the old home I knew I’d miss. One of the advantages of our old home was that it was basically finished. We had put our stamp on it and we were finally able to kick back and enjoy the fruits of our labor. I loved the character it had as well as the special touches me added. I knew fixing up our current home would take time and a tight budget, its just the season of life we are in right now. But, I love a good challenge. And I knew we would be able to put our stamp on this home as well.

One thing I loooooved about our old home was the wainscoting in our kitchen and mudroom. I knew I wanted to add it to this home as well. I just love the character and warmth it adds to a space. I decided our small dining room could really use a little character and knew that would be the perfect place for some wainscoting!

My husband started gathering prices for wood wainscoting and as much as we would have loved to have supported our local wood supply company, $500 for our small dining room was just way to far out of our budget. After a little shopping around we were able to still find a wood wainscoting but for a much lower cost. We ended up getting this product from Lowes. I’m so excited that we were able to get it installed over the weekend.I think my husband picked up 5 packs so the entire project cost us about $100!! And you guys, I’m seriously in love. I just can’t stop looking at it. Scroll on down to see the progress we made this week!
