We currently live in a world where we are constantly being bombarded with chemicals. Between air pollution, hormones, artificial flavors and sweeteners in our foods. Chemicals and toxic materials in our household cleaners, I feel like its my duty as a wife, mother, and homemaker to strive to use the healthiest items available out there in my home. It’s my job to help protect my family from all the junk out there. Over the past couple of years I’ve tried to be so intentional about creating or buying products that are safe for my family and myself. I’ve cleaned up our diets, prepare most of our meals at home and I’m currently working at cutting back our sugar intake. I’ve switched over to cleaning products from Norwex, their products are not only non-toxic and chemical free they can clean most surfaces in my home with just water, pretty amazing! All of this to say though, that like most people I really enjoy cleaning products that smell fresh and clean. While I love the ability to clean my home with just water, sometimes I really just want a fresh scent in the air as well. I decided it was time to save some pennies and make my own cleaning spray. And I’m thrilled with how my all purpose cleaner came out.
What you will need
- citrus peels…it can be lemon, lime, orange. You can even throw in some fresh herbs like rosemary. There really are a lot of possibilities.
- a large glass mason jar
- and distilled white vinegar.
- for a little extra scent consider using essential oils 10-20 drops should do the trick [add oils after you’ve infused your vinegar]
Over about 2 days I saved up all of our orange peels and put them in my jar. When I had a good amount I filled my jar with my vinegar. I popped the lid on and let it sit for about 2.5 weeks. Then I simply strained the liquid (save those peels they can go down your garbage disposal and will help to naturally clean it)
Then I filled my amber glass bottle with 8 oz of water then 8 oz of the vinegar, you can find the amber bottles here on Amazon. Thats it…simple, safe, and so cost effective!

Happy Cleaning Friends!
Blessings!
